STEMPACTS
The Young Scientist Program
November 2021, March 2022, July 2022
We are hosting STEM experiment workshops for 7-year-old and 10- to12-year-old children. Participants will get to build various STEM experiments with the free kits we will provide, and learn about concepts in physics, biology, and chemistry in a hands-on manner. Parents are more than welcome to join their children in our workshops!

NOVEMBER 2021
this series of workshops was supported by the UBC Centre for Community Engaged Learning
Four workshops were held in total for ten 7 year old and ten 10-12 year old immigrant and refugee children at MOSAIC. We had a lot of fun working on different experiments together and learning about scientific concepts!

MARCH 2022
this series of workshops was supported by the NSERC Student Ambassadors Grant
Two workshops were held in total for ten 7 year old and ten 10-12 year old immigrant and refugee children at MOSAIC. We had a wonderful time working on new scientific concepts and experiments with the children! We were able to get a better understanding of the interests of the children so we can hone them in future initiatives in collaboration with MOSAIC, as well as challenges they faced, such as unfamiliarity with lego building skills, so we can work on these skills in future workshops as well. We are so thankful to NSERC for the Student Ambassadors Grant that made this initiative possible!
